              TREE OF LIFE

 

The Tree of Life is mentioned in the Book of Genesis 3:22; it is distinct from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. In Christianity the Tree of Life is symbolically seen as Jesus Christ, while the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil is associated with, mysticism and illumination. 

         Etz Chaim, Hebrew meaning for "Tree of Life", is a common term used in Judaism. The expression, is figuratively applied to the Torah itself. Further, it is also used to describe each of the wooden poles to which the parchment of a Torah is attached. Jewish mysticism depicts the Tree of Life in the form of ten interconnected nodes, as an important part of the Kabbalah. As such, it resembles the ten Sephirot.The tree was in the midst of the Garden, and its fruit of such a nature as to produce physical immortality.
